A house with a poor existing layout became the backdrop for a complete renovation and expansion. We transformed the rear and strengthened the connection to yard and pool with an addition tucked under a copper standing seam farmer’s porch. Internally, a grid of ceiling coffers creates order and subtly delineates living, dining and kitchen spaces while maintaining an open concept. This grid also ties into the proportions of the two added bays. Hickory floors imbue warmth while additional wood details in the coffers, kitchen and living room imply separation among the new spaces.
