The place to be

these days kitchens are more than just cooking

Architects may debate the social impact on how spaces evolve to meet our needs, but one room that stands out at the forefront is the kitchen.

A flashback to Downton Abbey, illustrate a time when kitchens were small and concealed. Fast forward 100 years, a dose of Julie Childs and the advent of the ubiquitous cooking show, and one finds the kitchen expanding in both size and its role in our daily lives.  A hub of cooking only tells part of the story. Large islands inspire conversation and other forms of activity, small office nooks encourage daily mail drop and homework, while unique materials and architectural design suggest a desire to elevate this room….

So much so that an adjacent family room becomes living room, and dining room relegate to holiday ritual.
